REDCarpet Youth Awards

The RED Carpet youth awards, an initiative of Wodonga Council, are entering their eighth year in 2016.

The awards aim to recognise and acknowledge the contributions of young people and the difference they make in the community.

This is an exciting opportunity for young people to be publicly acknowledged and applauded for the many positive contributions they make to our vibrant city.

They are community-based awards, with nine categories including:

  • Individual Community Service Award (sponsored by the Wodonga Chamber of Commerce)
  • Sport and Recreation Volunteer Award (sponsored by YMCA Wodonga)
  • Young Carer Award (sponsored by Murray Valley Radiation Oncology Victoria – Genesis Care)
  • Apprenticeship/Traineeship Award (sponsored by ATEL Employment Services)
  • Endurance/Persistence Award (sponsored by Aware Industries)
  • Advocacy and Action Award (sponsored by Rotary Club Wodonga Central)
  • Performing Arts Award (sponsored by Megas Music)
  • Visual Arts and Media Award (sponsored by Dutch Media)
  • Youth Ambassador Award (sponsored by the RACV)

The awards are organised and run by a committee of six young people from three local high schools, with the support of Wodonga Council’s youth services and events officers, over an eight-month period.

The awards culminate in a gala dinner for 220 invited guests where all finalists are recognised and the winners announced.
