Does the Waste Transfer Station charge for disposal of greenwaste and why?

Yes, we have always charged for greenwaste. You pay because of the processing costs imposed on us on a monthly basis.


Are whitegoods free to drop-off at the Waste Transfer Station?

Most whitegoods and metals are free to dispose of. Whitegoods should be free of any contamination and rubbish.

Fridges and freezers incur a fee of $4.50 as they need the gases removed before disposal.  


How much for a trailer load of rubbish at the Waste Transfer Station?

All prices are subject to change at the start of the new financial year. You can view the current fees.

What are the opening hours at the Waste Transfer Station?

Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm, and Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 4pm.

How much gets recycled at the Waste Transfer Station?

We currently recycle 70 to 80 per cent of items while constantly striving for new ways of increasing this figure.

Is there any mulch available at the Waste Transfer Station?

Mulch availability varies. It is advised to call ahead to confirm that it is ready for collection.

Do we have to pay for televisions at the Waste Transfer Station?

Due to a government scheme, the disposal of televisions is now free. Computer-generated waste such as monitors, keyboard/mouse and laptops is also free. However, other e-waste incurs a fee including game consoles, hair dryers, video and DVD players, toasters, kettles and drills, etc. The cost of processing requires e-waste to fall under general waste pricing.

What is the Waste Transfer Station’s operating hours on public holidays?

Good Friday, Easter Sunday, ANZAC Day and Christmas Day we are closed.

All other public holidays we are open 10am to 4pm.

Is the Waste Transfer Station cheaper for council staff or pensioners?

There are no pensioner or staff discounts at the facility.

Is there someone there to help me unload my rubbish at the Waste Transfer Station?

We aim to educate the public in proper recycling practices. Part of this includes having people on hand, when possible, to assist in unloading.

Must I sort my load before going to the Waste Transfer Station?

We strongly encourage customers to sort their loads before coming to the site as well as when unloading as it assists us to reduce the amount of recyclable materials that go into landfill.

It also may attract a cheaper fee at the gate.
