Wodonga Council has put out its draft Industrial Lands Strategy for public feedback.
The strategy has been developed to establish the overall vision and objectives for industrial land in Wodonga and provides direction on a precinct by precinct basis to support future planning and development potential of industrial land in Wodonga.
The strategy identifies the demand for and supply of industrial land in Wodonga, based on the analysis of the local, regional and state policies, together with local strategies, including consideration of the transport and digital economy strategies.
The draft strategy identifies Wodonga’s competitive advantages that support industrial development as well as issues that may hinder the development potential.
Manufacturing and logistics account for more than 21 per cent of employment in Wodonga and is the biggest employment sector in the city.
It’s important the council understands the opportunities but also what are the barriers to the growth and development of the sector so that we can ensure sustainability and growth in this key employment sector as our city continues to grow.
A series of objectives and actions has been proposed to foster the competitive advantages and to tackle and resolve the issues in order to achieve a sustainable growth for the future industrial development in Wodonga.
