Each year the council names a range of parks and reserves across the city. We are looking for a diverse range of interested people to be a part of the Place Names Advisory Committee.
Whether you’re 18 or 80, moved here from across the way or across the seas, you can play a part in creating a lasting legacy in our city.
The committee is responsible for advising the council on the:
- The investigation and determination of geographic place names; and,
- The notification of new or altered names to the registrar for inclusion in the register for official mapping data and other purposes.
The appointment will be for three years. Persons wishing to serve as an external independent member may nominate for successive terms without restriction.
The committee meets approximately four times a year.
