Wodonga Council is undertaking the development of a new masterplan for Belvoir Park, intended to guide the future planning for this public open space.
In addition to this project, a separate masterplan for the House Creek Trail connection between Belvoir and Willow parks will also be developed.
The current Belvoir Park masterplan was developed in 2012. Since then, Wodonga has seen significant population growth and Belvoir Park has undergone many environmental and infrastructure changes and inclusions.
The need and demand for public open spaces which provide passive, informal, non-structured areas for leisure activities has also increased, so too has cultural awareness and policy that recognises the role of open spaces in environmental protection and climate resilience.
This project aims to strategically address those public open space needs while creating a planned approach for the development of these two significant parks and associated amenities, to meet the recreation, leisure and environmental sustainability needs of the city. It will also recognise and respond to the cultural values, natural features and unique character of each site.
Specialist consultants ROSS Planning, in collaboration with Wodonga Council, local sporting clubs, schools and community stakeholder groups, will develop the Belvoir Park masterplan.
As part of the consultation process for this project, Wodonga residents are invited to provide feedback directly to the consultants during drop-in sessions at the park. Details of these sessions are as follows:
Thursday, February 3, 11.30am to 1.30pm
Friday, February 4, 6.30am to 8.30am
The drop-in sessions will be held at the lawn area near the pizza oven.
For anyone who is interested in providing feedback but is unable to attend the drop-in sessions, please do not hesitate to contact Scott Walker from ROSS Planning via direct email – scottw@rossplanning.com.au
Belvoir Park playground
Because of its importance to our community, the Belvoir Park playground will be expanded and upgraded as a separate project to the broader masterplan. In coming weeks, we’ll be asking community members to have their say specifically on the playground.
If you would like to register your interest in being kept up to date on the playground, please come along to the Belvoir Park drop in sessions and let us know or register at https://confirmsubscription.com/h/d/C23502493BDFFE1C.
Further details will also be in our social media and the public notices in Saturday’s edition of The Border Mail.
