Scrapbooking with a difference

7 May, 2021

Forget boring premade scrapbook paper, come join an upcoming workshop on May 22 and learn how to make your own.

Visual artist and school teacher Felicite Grogan will demonstrate the possibilities of paper, showing participants various collage techniques.

“People collaging might use bought paper, but I will show them different techniques where they can come up with a design, sketch it out and look at the cutting process,” she said.

“Participants will have a ready to frame piece by the end of the workshop.

“It’s a unique style that when people often see it at markets they ask if it’s watercolour because the paper is so fine and it looks like a painting.”

The workshop at Baranduda Community Centre from 11am to 4pm is open to all levels of experience, from beginner to those looking to explore new ideas.

Miss Grogan, who has a Certificate IV in visual arts from Wodonga TAFE, encouraged people to come along for fun.

“Come and explore with paint to start with and then create some beautiful works that you can take home,” she said.

“We will use various tools and mediums to achieve different textures and colours.”

Miss Grogan said once people knew the technique, they could easily do it at home.

“You only need minimal space and tools to do this at home,” she said.

The finished process is great for many projects including card making.

“The pieces I do are framed but can make great cards or framed gifts,” she said.

The Collage Workshop for Adults with 'felecitegroganart' costs $80 and includes all materials for the workshop.
