Wodonga residents have applauded the new mural in Sesame Lane.
Local artist Kirrily Anderson created the new mural, entitled VANGUARD, as part of the Upstream Festival.
The mural communicates the significance of young people as future leaders, especially in relation to environmental issues.
The work aims to promote working together in our community to care for the environment.
The subject of the mural is surrounded by symbolism of nature and her environment. She looks hopefully and knowingly to the future.
The two overlapping circles in this design represent Albury and Wodonga showing the connection they share.
When out on the street, Wodonga Council asked residents what they thought of the mural.
"When we first saw the mural, we thought it really brightened the place up and it was really interesting," Cheryl Morgan said
"We would love to see more of it. Similar to what they do on silos in other towns," her husband Allan Morgan said.
"I think coming off of the street here the first thing you see is the bird and that draws you in to the girl and I think that it's a great way to draw you into the laneway," Ian Sumpter said.
"It's a beautiful piece of art."
