Refugee Week, from June 14 to June 20, is Australia’s peak annual activity to raise awareness about the issues affecting refugees and celebrate the positive contributions made by refugees to Australian society.
While we can’t come together physically to celebrate the amazing contributions refugees make to Albury Wodonga, we invite you all to take time to reflect on this year’s theme - The Year of Welcome.
To celebrate the week a short film has been launched featuring local people from a refugee background discussing their experiences since arriving in Albury Wodonga.
The film has been produced especially for Refugee Week 2020.
People are encouraged to view the film in their workplaces, classrooms and homes throughout the week.
The film has been created in four different languages to be accessible to our culturally and linguistically diverse community.
This film was made by local film artist and refugee, Olivier Ruzoviyo and was funded by Wodonga Council, AWECC and STARTTS.
Be sure to check the Facebook page throughout the week as we post content each day of Refugee Week which we hope will celebrate, educate and inspire.
