Councils renew 2C1C partnership

24 Aug, 2022

AlburyCity and Wodonga Council have endorsed a revised Two Cities One Community Partnership Agreement at their recent council meetings, reaffirming both councils’ 2017 commitment to working together in planning, developing and growing the Albury Wodonga region.

The revision of the agreement was informed by a joint council workshop held in Wodonga on June 8, 2022, that looked at the achievements of the partnership to date and the vision for collaboration in the future.

The renewed partnership was formalised with a joint signing of the agreement by Wodonga Mayor Kev Poulton and AlburyCity Mayor Kylie King on August 24, 2022.

The vision for the Two Cities One Community Partnership is to unleash Albury Wodonga's potential and drive innovation for the benefit of the region and the nation, and in the coming months both councils will work together to review the strategic plan and action plan.

The Two Cities One Community Strategic Plan combines the visions and shared priorities of both cities and sets out long-term goals to achieve these. This is supported by an action plan that identifies the specific projects, strategies and resources that will be delivered to help achieve these goals.

The new strategic plan will be guided by community feedback received during community consultation for Towards Albury 2050 and Wodonga 2033 and our community will be asked to nominate priority areas of focus in a survey soon to be released.

AlburyCity Mayor Kylie King said the review and endorsement of the new partnership agreement was timely with the recent adoption of the Towards Albury 2050 Community Strategic Plan.

"The insights captured during the development of our Towards Albury 2050 Community Strategic Plan will be used to inform the new Two Cities One Community Strategic Plan, ensuring the community’s vision for both cities is well represented,” said Mayor King.

"I'm excited to continue the partnership with Mayor Poulton and the Wodonga Council team to build on the great work that’s already been done, and can't wait to see what the next iteration of the strategy will look like.”

Wodonga Mayor Kev Poulton said the revision of the agreement would further strengthen the foundations of the unique cross-border partnership.

“We know that we’re stronger working together and by refining the plans for the future of both cities we’ll be bringing our united community on a journey to achieve the full potential of Albury Wodonga,” he said.

Details of the upcoming survey will be publicised on the AlburyCity and Wodonga Council websites and social media channels.
