The regional netball facility at Kelly Park is used by Netball Wodonga for junior competitions and training as well as regional netball clubs that use the venue for training.
The deterioration of the surface of the courts as well as other compliance issues that exist at the venue has made it necessary to undertake upgrades. Works included in the whole project include the replacement of the court surface, upgrades to floodlighting and the provision of shelters and seating to support spectators and participants. An allocation was made in the 2017/18 council budget to address these issues.
Netball Wodonga are contributing $120,000 towards the project. Council engaged a specialist sporting design consultant - SportEng to prepare design plans and specifications for this project as a requirement from the funding partner.
The tender advertised in the Border Mail and via TenderSearch on Saturday, September 16, 2017, covered the remediation and replacement of the court surface within the existing footprint and will result in nine compliant courts at Kelly Park. Further tenders are to be issued to complete the upgrade of the floodlighting and provision of shelters and seating at the venue.
After all assessments, the panel considered that the tender submission from Excell Gray Bruni Pty Ltd provided the best value for money option for the council.
