Regional Cricket Hub

PROJECT
COMPLETE

$1.15milion was unveiled for the North East Country Cricket and Community Hub in Wodonga.

Labor Upper House Member for Northern Victoria, Jaclyn Symes, unveiled a major $1.15million North East Country Cricket and Community Hub for Wodonga.

Ms Symes joined Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria, Cricket NSW, Wodonga Council and local cricket club officials to make the announcement which will see the establishment of the hub as a regionally significant venue to enhance club competition and development of programs for players, coaches and umpires, whilst accommodating regional administrative needs of cricket.

The North East Country Cricket and Community Hub will see the construction of an indoor training centre with four pitches, unisex player change rooms and office accommodation for staff.

Ms Symes said funding for this project included $500,000 from the Andrews Labor Government/Cricket Australia/Cricket Victoria, $600,000 from Wodonga City Council and $50,000 from Cricket NSW.

“This amazing new facility at Biralee Park will make Wodonga the epicentre of cricket in North East Victoria,” Ms Symes said

“This Andrews Labor Government, Wodonga Council, Cricket Australia, Cricket Victoria and Cricket NSW collaboration, will ensure the future growth of cricket in the North East region.

“While international cricket has been in the headlines for all the wrong reasons, this new facility in the heart of Wodonga is great news for the men, women, boys and girls of North East Victoria who love their sport.

“The North East Country Cricket and Community Hub will provide our male and female cricketers with the latest facilities where they can hone their skills.

“The Andrews Labor Government is working hard to give more locals in North East Victoria the opportunity to play the sports they love, and embrace a more active and healthy lifestyle and this new facility will certainly provide that."
