Five top tips for summer wellness in Wodonga

27 Jan, 2021

Get out and about safely in Wodonga this summer to enjoy bike rides, shady walks and more.

Last year, many people took the opportunity to embrace long walks and bike riding in place of commutes and social activities.

While we continue to stay safe and follow physical distancing guidelines, the warmer weather presents the perfect opportunity to continue healthy habits and start new ones.

Here are five top tips for summer wellness.

1. Enjoy the ride

Get around on your bike is easy. Whether you’re a new or seasoned rider, Wodonga has more than 80 kilometres of bike paths.

The paths connect to various locations, including the rail trail. The paths make light work of commuting school, work or you can take a gentle Sunday afternoon ride to enjoy some outdoor dining.

2. Grow your own food

Join the increasing number of locals who are growing their own food to enjoy the many benefits to your wellbeing.

If you don’t have room at home, consider becoming a member of your neighbourhood community garden.

3. Stay hydrated

It is vital to drink water during hot weather. Carry a water bottle and refill at one of our hydration stations at key sites including Willow Park, Belvoir Park and Junction Square.

4. Take a class

Move your own way at our Wodonga Sports and Leisure Centre and in your own home by taking advantage of our fitness facilities and classes.

5. Visit Lake Hume

One of the great places to visit in Wodonga, Lake Hume has plenty of cool things including boating, fishing, camping, sightseeing and other recreational activities.

As always remember to stay safe by following the water safety rules, always keep your eye on children around water and never overestimate your abilities.
